SSI Extended Range Nitrox

The SSI XR Nitrox program provides a thorough introduction to the concepts, techniques, and procedures required when planning decompression diving with nitrox. Designed as either a stand-alone program or stepping-stone to become an SSI Extended Range diver, this enriched air diving program provides foundational skills that are the basis for all future technical programs. Using either an XR Sidemount or Twinset Total Diving System, this program prepares divers to plan and conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters. In addition, the SSI Extended Range Nitrox course will teach you the techniques and procedures for using breathing gases up to 100% oxygen for decompression.

Prerequisites SSI Extended Range Nitrox:
  • Min. 18 years old
  • 24 logged dives
  • SSI Deep Diving or equivalent
  • SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 40 or equivalent
  • SSI Recreational Sidemount Diving or equivalent (if using Sidemount configuration in the course)
Requirements For Completion:
  • Complete all academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the instructor manual for Extended Range Diving.
  • Complete the program’s final exam.
  • Independently plan a full dive plan using the Extended Range Dive Planning sheets.
  • Complete at least one 1 pool/confined water skill development session lasting at least 1 hour as outlined in the instructor manual for Extended Range.
  • Complete at least 4 open water training dives as outlined in the instructor manual for Extended Range.
